There are dangers of being the only SuperPower in the world and what has happened after 9-11 certainly illustrates many of them. What I don't undertand is why the Americans allowed a terrorist act to change their society to the degree that they have. Others countries have certainly experienced terroirism and not allowed it to change who they fundamenly are.
And you are correct the world would certainly ignore any gradual changes that the introduction of slavery would have on the American people, but I don't see the wide scale embrace of it in other countries.
